Caution: the following post contains a significant number of product plugs. For those readers keeping score at home, I have hyperlinked and bolded them. In case you are wondering, the Colts Pro Shop recently massively marked down the prices on their Super Bowl XLI stuff.
Yes, I am in mourning. Not serious mourning.....just football mourning.
My beloved Colts will NOT be playing on Sunday. Oh, they had the game last week. Then, my buddy MM's Bolts shot them down. I tip my Colts Sideline cap to you and the Bolts, MM.
They had a great year. Another 13 win season. While many of the fair weather fans are groaning and looking to order their Patriots crap, I sit here thumbing through my recently purchased Super Bowl XLI Game Program (purchased immediately after the deflating defeat for a paltry $5.00) reminiscing on the wonderful world championship I enjoyed last year.
Others I know are suddenly Brett Favre fans. Go figure. Out of nowhere came their CheeseHead. Well, I say NO to that bull. Yes, I will watch tomorrow's game between GB and the Giants (anyone know why ESPN insists on calling them "The Football NY Giants"?). I will be watching it basking in the warmth of my Super Bowl XLI Champions Parade Hoodie.
Boy, the sweatshirt is almost warm enough to keep out the bitter chill of defeat. Do I need to concerned about that lingering cold???? Of course not....for I will be sporting my Super Bowl XLI Champions Hat Hook T-Shirt underneath my sweatshirt which will repel the remaining bits of cold.
So, don't cry for me, Argentina....or Louisville.....or Omaha....or even San Diego. I am prepared for this difficult stretch coming up. Well prepared.
Now, if only I could convince Mrs. WHW on the investment value of the Fan Version of the Super Bowl Champ's Ring ($1,399.99), then I would be set.
How I made it through school (and to retirement) studying by the light of the TV.

Playoffs??!!
I'm still on a Super Bowl high. Having seen, and re-seen just about every press conference related to the Super Bowl, I have decided to post the transcripts to my recent post-victory press conference. (yes, I know, the press conference only happened in my head....but please let me dream)
Reporter: WHW, for most of the game you remained quite level headed and calm. Was that because you knew the Colts were going to win?
Me: I would like to say that I knew all along that we had the game in the bag. However, the reason behind my behavior was related to a little "chat" I had with Mrs. W. before the game. It had to do with our young company during the game.
Reporter: After that last interception/touchdown, you disappeared for a while. Where did you go?
Me: I stepped outside for a bit of fresh air.
Spike (my dog): Actually, he came outside and screamed...."Yes...we ^&%ing won!! Kiss my @ss Bears!"
Me: No comment
Reporter: During the season, were you sure the Colts were going to make the playoffs? Especially after giving up 1,000 yards rushing to Jacksonville.
Me: Playoffs??!! I was just hoping we would win another game. (this answer is my tribute to a wonderful Colts coach of the past, Jim Mora)
Reporter: You have been a Colts fan for a long time. This has to be your best memory. What is your worst memory?
Me: Two come to mind. First, they started the 1986 season 0-13, with most games being lost by more than a touchdown. The second was the day I was told my Bert Jones jersey no longer fit, and I had to stop wearing it. I cried for hours....until Mrs. W told me I could get a Peyton Manning jersey.
Reporter: Are you convinced your support helped the team win the Super Bowl
Me: Absolutely. Next question
Reporter: I have been told that Mrs. W, as well as your oldest son and your son A-Train are not Colts fans.
Me: You know. This is supposed to be about me. Not my family. Why you bring my family into this?? Think you are tough??? I ain't answering any more questions. End of press conference
It is at this point that I overturned the podium and went after the reporter who asked the last question.
Spring training starts in 10 or so days!!!

How Sweet It Is!
Not much to say. It is time to celebrate.
The Colts Super Bowl victory is sweet.....is it too much to ask to have a Cubs World Series victory???
Oh, and all you Bears fans who made bets.....time to pay up, my friends :>)

Sweet Mother of Art Donovan.....
Never have I gone from wanting to put my nerf football through the TV (first half) to wanting to put my arms around the TV (second half) in such a short amount of time. Yes, I have hugged my TV before.....but that is a story for another post.
Not reall much more can be said about a game like this. It was freakin crazy. I must now begin assuming idiotic, super-fan characteristics....slowly working myself up into the complete assinine behavior for Super Bowl Sunday. I believe a road trip in the next two weeks into someplace near Colts headquarters to stock up on various items is in order.
Possibly:
- Colts hard-hat
- Colts Super Bowl T-shirt
- Colts big foam #1 finger
- New Payton Manning jersey
- Colts face paint or rubber mask
- Colts Batman mask
- ???? Other ideas?
A lot of Bears fans up here. I need my gear.
Go Colts!
